We had the most wonderful time staying at Rue Des Douves in Verteuil-sur-Charente. The restored ancient house was simply stunning and full of character. It truly felt like living in a French chateau. The village itself was picturesque, with charming restaurants, bars, and shops just a stone's throw away. We enjoyed leisurely walks by the millpond, where we could watch ducks, a goose, heron, and even a kingfisher. The house was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and we were greeted with a lovely welcome pack upon arrival. we couldn't have asked for a more perfect getaway.
While the house was beautiful, we did experience a few challenges. The heating system was not very effective, especially in the colder weather.

We got an amazing deal for our stay at this charming hotel in a picturesque village. The room was clean and comfortable, and it felt like we were staying in a cozy home rather than a hotel. The location was perfect, with lovely restaurants and cafes just a few steps away. The staff, Simon & Dianne, were incredibly helpful and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We can't wait to return to this amazing place.
The hotel breakfast could use a little improvement, perhaps by adding some more variety to the menu.

The bathroom with the shower was a total gamechanger for me! As a guest with disabilities, having this accessible feature made my stay so much more comfortable. The free toiletries were a nice touch too!
Although some may appreciate it, I personally found the bath in the other bathroom to be unnecessary.
